Kojic acid is a naturally occurring organic acid (mostly extracted from the fermentation of *Aspergillus oryzae*). Its core function is to inhibit melanin production. In skin care, it reduces the formation of pigment spots and sunspots by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase (a key enzyme in melanin synthesis). At the same time, it fades existing pigmentation, achieving the effect of whitening and lightening spots. In addition, its antioxidant property can also delay skin aging caused by free radicals.
